10 Soundtracks to get you in the Halloween Mood

I love Halloween. More than love it. Lurve it. I love watching scary movies involving hauntings or exorcisms. I playing spooky games. I love candy. Sure, it all leaves me in a fetal position of terror. But I still love it to bits.

Naturally, when October rolls around my playlist becomes populated with spooky instrumental soundtracks to help get me in the mood even more. My original plan was to post a song every day on Facebook, but then I thought…why not just do it all in one post?!

I’m lazy.

So I am sharing them here in no particular order! Because most of these come from video games and movies, I am going to post a mild spoiler warning here as I might discuss the context in which the song appears. Enjoy! And comment with your favourite Halloween soundtracks as well! Read the rest of this entry

Top 5: Awesome Soundtracks to Bad Franchises

Hallo all! So I recently started writing for a site called Geekpr0n. It’s an awesome site. And I was going to make another Top 5 list of music but then figured it would be a good thing to put on a geeky site. So I’m just going to link to it here. Take a look! 😀

Top 10- Tense Moving Music

Time for another Top 10!

And hey, since I love music so much, I’m going to continue until I exhaust my obscenely specific categories. Today I’d like to cover what I can only describe for myself as Tense Moving music.

There’s a lot of tense music that happens in movies and tv shows and games. But a lot of the time these are used for fights or chase sequences. That isn’t the type of tense I’m covering today though. For instance, Inception has an incredibly tense soundtrack, but it’s nowhere on this list.

Just...freaking...fall!

Just…freaking…fall!

The type of tense I’m talking about is both a little more subdued AND a little more weighted. It’s the type of tense that often comes at a turning point in a movie, when a character makes a big decision or realizes something terrible is happening. In other words, more often than not, it’s a character driven tense.

It’s the tense that has me holding my breath, that moves me and sweeps me up in the character’s emotional state. And I eat it up every single time. At any rate, when I’m writing these types of scenes, I have a playlist of these types of songs playing. So I figured I’d share it with you!

So here are my Top 10…actually you know what? This list was tough. I’m adding in one more. Eleven. This is my Top 11 tense moving songs. Read the rest of this entry

I like Top 10 Lists….so I’m going to make that a thing :D. Welcome to Top 10!

My favourite type of music to listen to is movie scores. I’ve been listening to them since I was around 14 and they now dominate 90% of my music collection. I thought I would list my Top 10 favourite music pieces, but then I realized just how tough that would be given the size of my collection.

So I’ve decided to go with categories. And what better way to start a Top 10 list than with my Top 10 EPIC MUSIC PIECES! The type of music that makes you want to run into battle, or have a showdown, or have an adventure! So here goes! Read the rest of this entry
